History

"This is a 10.6 acre privately owned cemetery located in the City of Newton, Iowa, at 2710 First Avenue East. The warranty deed for this property was filed in 1936 and the first burials occurred soon after. Considerable litigation has clouded the history of the cemetery, and it was bought and sold several times in the 1980's.

"As a result of past problems, several graves were moved to other cemeteries in the area. Other people, in order to mark their lots, set out markers containing only the family surname, some stones are blank, some give the name only and some give names and birthdates.""
