"Hickory Grove Church and Cemetery is located in Section 21 of Hickory Grove Township, Jasper County, Iowa. The 6th of September 1872 William Burroughs and his wife Priscilla conveyed one acre of land for a church house and two acres to be appropriated for a public burying ground.
"The 25th of September 1909 one acre of land was sold by Joseph D. and Lizzie M. Smith to the Trustees of the United Brethren in Christ Church, thus enlarging the cemetery capacity.
"The cemetery is located by the church. There are two sections, one wider section on the South of the church containing 102 burial lots. A narrow parcel ten lots wide runs to the North on the East side of the church and contains 216 lots.
"On the 14th of October 1969 the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association filed their Articles of Incorporation. They are responsible for the care of the cemetery."
