History

"There are two Bethel Cemeteries in Jasper County. One is in Clear Creek [sic-Independence] Township and this one is located in Richland Township at South 46th Avenue East & Highway T385. It is the only cemetery in Richland Township. It was started in about 1855 but deeded for use as a cemetery in 1877. It is well maintained and the stones are in fair to good condition. Bethel Methodist Church was located adjacent to the cemetery, but the church was moved to the Kellogg Museum site in 1992."
