L.H. Mayne, Former Iowa Legislator, Editor, Dies
Emmetsburg, Ia., April 3 (AP) - L.H. Mayne, 77, former state legislator, died here today. Mayne was editor and owner of the Palo Alto Reporter here for 27 years preceding 1925, and was postmaster for 20 years.

E.A. Allbee, 85, Former Iowa School Official, Dies
Muscatine, Ia., April 5 [Special] - E.A. Allbee, 85, former Muscatine county school superintendent, dropped dead at a street intersection last night. His son, Attorney Gustav Allbee, is county relief administrator and Democratic chairman of the First congressional district of Iowa.

Paul C. Hatfield, Modesto Resident For 12 Years, Dies
Paul C. Hatfield, 46. a resident of Modesto for the past twelve years, died in a hotel at 927 1/2 Tenth Street Tuesday morning. Hatfield, a native of Greeley, Iowa, was an automotive electrican, and served as a guard at San Quentin prison [illegible words] 1930. He was a ex-service man, going to France from Iowa with the First Division. Besides his widow, Mrs. Maud L. Hatfield of Oakland, he leaves two children, Robert and Goldy Hatfield of Greeley, Iowa; his father, Timothy Hatfield of Greeley; two brothers. C. R. Hatfield of Berkeley and Roy E. Hatfield of Minneapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Lora Ridenour of Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Dr. William Mullin, Throat, Nose, Ear Specialist, Dies.
Cleveland, O., April 25 - Dr. William V. Mullin, nationally known authority on ailments of the ear, nose, and throat, died today in Cleveland Clinic hospital. Dr. Mullin was born in Iowa City, Ia., Feb. 14, 1884.

Jay Ira Nichols, Former Iowa State Senator, Dies.
Muscatine, Ia., April 26 [Special] - Jay Ira Nichols, 80, Muscatine county pioneer, died at his West Liberty home today, following a prolonged illness. He was a county supervisor for five yeras, and a former state representative. From 1906 to 1911 he was a state senator, and for years was president of the Union District Agricultural society and the Iowa Condensed Milk company.

--Miss Freda Wiepert and Victor Hess were united in marriage at a nuptial mass Tuesday morning with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. G.L. Haxmeier officiating. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weipert and the groom a son of Mrs. Frances Hess. They were attended by Miss Clara Weipert and Clarence Weipert, brother and sister of the bride.
--The remains of Mrs. George Metcalf were brought from La Crosse Monday. Funeral services were held at the Federated church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. H.J. Noeding officiating. Special music was given by George Aschom. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. H.M. Matteson of Boston, Mass.; three sons, Bert and Walter of Des Moines and George of Lansing; seven grand children; and three great grandchildren. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Pall bearers were Harold Gaunitz, Albert Kehr, Kenneth Fellows, Freds Schafer, Ernest Gaunitz and George Aschom.
--Mr. and Mrs. Charles Aldrich moved from the farm Monday and now occupy their house near the school building. The farm was sold to Victor Hess.
--Jack Sweeney was in town Monday on leave of acsence from the CCC camp at McGregor.
--The Eischeid Construction company of New Hampton has completed a drainage ditch on Victor Hess's farm. It is 900 feet long and seven feet deep, connecting with Clear Creek.

Mrs. Arthur Bailie Dies; Iowa Women's Club Leader
Davenport, Ia., Dec 18 -- Mrs. Arthur R. Bailie, 3?, a past president of the Davenport League of Women Voters and a past vice president of the Iowa League of Women Voters, died at a hospital here today. A son was born Monday at the same hospital. A graduate of Drake university, Mrs. Bailie, before her marriage, was engaged in Chautauqua and dramatic work. She was also a past president of the Pan-Hellenic society of the Tri-cities.
