OBITUARY
Clinton Andrew Shanklin, son of Andrew Thompson and Esther Ann Shanklin was born near Waubeek, Iowa, September 16, 1871, and died in Springville March 23, 1939, after a long illness. In 1935 he with his wife, went to Fla., hoping the change of climate would benefit his health but instead he gradually grew worse so came back to his native state last November. At the age of 20, he was baptized and united with the Church of God (Seventh Day) accepting the Bible as the only true standard of right living and remaining in that faith till the day of his death.
He was married September 18, 1892, Carrie M. Gregg of Marion and to his union were born eight children, who with the widow survive him, with the exception of Maynard G., the youngest who died at the age of 3 months. They are: Floyd C., of Fla.; Erroll J. of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ola M. Johnson, of Mt. Vernon; Raymond T. of Ames; and Warren B., Mrs. Esther Johnson and Bayard, all of California. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Floy Raff of Springville and a brother, Urban J. of Des Moines; nine grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends who sincerely mourn and miss him.
Funeral services were held at the Hunte funeral home in Springville, Monday afternoon, conducted by Elder C. F. Ladd of Des Moines assisted by Mrs. John Bowdish and Mrs. Ben Shellhammer, who sang three choice selections accompanied by Miss Lenna Whitcomb at the piano. Burial was in the Springville cemetery.

Shanklin, Paul Shanklin, A. J. Johnson, Warren Johnson, Mrs. Will Rundall, Kenneth Rundall, Mrs. Lillian Easterday, Mr. and Mrs. John Calvert, Mrs. Eileen Gauld, Mrs. Luella Hearne, W. T. Walratle, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wink, all of Cedar Rapids; Lew Jones, Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carver, Frank Carver, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ford and son Layton, Mrs. Ida Michel, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. F. Michel, all of Marion; Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Shanklin, of Viola; Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Kleineck and Mrs. Mable Smith, Mt. Vernon; Mr. and Mrs. Ern Rue and Mrs. George Fegan, Anamosa.
