Clarion, Wright co. Iowa
September 13, 1871
We have the pleasure of announcing to the people of Wright
county, the name of J.B. Dixon, as a candidate for County
Sheriff, subject to the County Convention.
Mr. Overacker of Clarion township, gave us a sample of corn
raised on his farm, which beats all the corn we have ever seen.
The ears measure about 12 inches, and are of good quality.
Married - At the M.E. Parsonage, Prairie du
Chien, Wis., by the Rev. Christopher Cook, Sept. 2d, 1871, Mr.
Frank M. Haislet and Miss Stella M. Jacobs, both of McGregor.
This new departure of our old time friend startled us somewhat,
but upon due consideration, we came to the conclusion that
"it is not good for man to be alone," and we know Frank
to be a man of no ordinary ability, and good education, and hence
we predict for him and his a prosperous and happy future, and may
The happiness they now enjoy,
Be great beyond degree,
But when they have a little "More"
Far greater will it be!
Ed. Franks, of Webster City, one of Hamilton Co's best young men,
sent us a batch of honey which was not bad to take. Ed. may you
live to the ripe old age of Methusaleh, and have all the fun that
is to be had in this world, and your share in the next.
The following named gentlemen have lighted our office with their
pleasant faces during the past week: W.S. Abbey, N.Y.; L.L. Estes
and O.K. Eastman of Webster City Bank; L.S. Hazen of Upper Grove,
Hancock Co. and several others of who we do not remember their
names.
