Cpl. Leonard E. Cloud, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Cloud, 1200 S. Newton Street, has gone overseas. Cpl Cloud, who has been in service two years, was stationed with the armored division at Camp Polk, La.

Pfc. Francis J. Benton, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Benton, 1409 W. Second Street, recently arrived in England with a radio unit in the air corps.

Lieut. Robert W. Rockwood is spending a 10-day leave with his mother, Mrs. B.A. Rockwood, 1209 ½ Grandview Boulevard. Lieut. Rockwood is a navigator on a B-17 crew and completed training at MacDill field, Fla. It is his last leave prior to overseas assignment.

Sgt. Arthur L. DeLaughter of Fort Knox, Ky., arrived Thursday for a 10-day furlough with his father, Roy DeLaughter, 802 10th Street.

Pvt. Kenneth H. Millette, son of Henry O. Millette, 1512 W. 20th Street, recently completed four weeks of jump training at the parachute School at Fort Benning, Ga. He is entitled to wear the wings and boots of a paratrooper.

William K. Burns, son of Rev. and Mrs. Harry M. Burns, 1307 W. Fifth Street, recently spent a two- week leave with his parents after finishing his training in the V-12 program at St. Lawrence University, Canton, N.Y. He will report to the University of Notre Dame for his midshipman’s training.

Pfc. Donald K. Moore, whose wife lives at 921 Plymouth Street, has been awarded the combat infantryman badge for exemplary conduct in action against the Japanese. He has been overseas for eight months, serving in New Caledonia and Bougainville.

Cpl. William V. Edgcumbe, son of Mrs. Violet Edgcumbe, 1609 Pierce Street, has been awarded a combat Star to be worn on his Asiatic-Pacific theater ribbon for his part in the battle for Bougainville in the northern Solomons. He has been overseas for 19 months and is an expert instrument repairman with an ordnance company where he works at repairing all types of fire control instruments. Cpl. Edgcumbe is a graduate of Central High School.

S. Sgt. Robert S. Zane, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Zane, 1307 Court Street, is a member of the Fourth fighter group of the Eighth air force which recently was honored by a presidential citation “as public evidence of deserve honor and distinction.”

Pvt. William L Meacham, U.S. M.C.R, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Meacham, 4011 Floyd Avenue, has completed his training in the V-12 unit at Denison University, Granville, O., and is being transferred to Parris Island, S.C. for further officer training. At Denison University he has been prominent in dramatics and athletics having amassed the most points for touchdowns in the current football season. He has become a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity since entering the V-12 unit. He formerly attended Leeds high School and Morningside College.

Pvt. Harold D. Loomis, son of Mrs. Minnie Loomis, 2816 Military road, is a Miami Army Air Field before leaving for his home, where he will spend his furlough. He has been serving in the Middle Eastern theater of operations with an air transport command.

Pvt. Harry A. Sherrard, son of Mrs. Esther Sherrard, Shepard apartments, has completed his training as a paratroop engineer somewhere in England.

Robert V. Echols, seaman second class, is spending an 11-day leave with his wife and son Robert at 808 Nebraska Street. He has just completed his boot training at Farragut, Idaho.

First Lieut. Wilbur L. Stokley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Stokley, who lives on a farm near Sioux City, has been awarded the distinguished flying cross for extraordinary achievement in accomplishing with distinction aerial operational missions over enemy occupied Europe. He is a member of the Second bombardment division of the 491st heavy bombardment group.

ADMIRAL B. WOODWORTH
Admiral B. Woodworth, 85, 509 1/2 Market street, died Thursday night at his home after a short illness. He had been a resident of Sioux City 27 years coming here from Winnebago, Nebr. where he had farmed.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Smith of Sioux City and Mrs. Ora Ewin of Des Moines, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body is at Manning's funeral home.

GEORGE ELLERD
Funeral services for George Ellerd, 85, pioneer Sioux Cityan who died Wednesday, will be held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the West-Heaton funeral home.  Rev. George C. Pullman, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Graceland Park cemetery.  Pallbearers will be L. O. Hoffman, George Brackenbury, Fritz Fritzon, Thomas Mould, Thomas H. Rivers, and David W. Stewart.

MRS. CARRIE ROBERTS
The body of Mrs. Carrie Roberts who died Wednesday will be sent this evening from the Rutledge funeral home to Clarinda, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Methodist church.  Burial will be in the Clarinda cemetery.

HULDAH UNDERHILL
Mrs. Huldah Underhill, 57, 410 Market street, died Friday afternoon after a heart attack. 

Born December 23, 1877, at Holstein, Ia., she spent most of her life in and near Sioux City.  During the last 25 years she resided in Sioux City. 

She is survived by the widower, Charles.  The body was taken to Perasso Bros. Funeral Home.

HENRY B. WOODWORTH
Funeral services for Henry B. Woodworth, 85, 509 1/2 Market street, Sioux Cityan for 27 years, who died Thursday night at his home after a short illness, will be held at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon in Manning's funeral home, Rev. John P. Hantla will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery.

MRS. DEBBIE JANE SVENDSEN
Funeral services for Mrs. Debbie Jane Svendsen will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Perasso Bros. chapel.  Rev. George Dunn of the First Methodist church will officiate.  Burial will be at Smithland, Ia.

FRED NEWMAN
Fred Newman, 79, died Friday afternoon at a hospital here.  Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Harold Copenhaver, of Sioux City.  The body was taken to the White funeral home.
