News From Our Boys
To California
Joseph Rosenblum, 710 33d Street, an aviation cadet, has
left Kansas City for the United States navy preflight school at
St. Marys college in California. Following three months of
preflight training there he will begin his primary flight
training at a naval reserve air base.
Promoted To Corporal
Glen Dale Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Knight, 1220 W.
Second Street has been promoted to the rank of corporal at Camp
Gordon, Georgia, where he is serving in a medical battalion.
Weekend At Home
Thomas Bennett Hodgins, first class petty officer, spent
the weekend at his home, 814 Jennings Street. Petty Officer
Hodgins will finish his training at the Detroit naval armory
September 19, with the rating of third class electrician.
At Great Lakes
Raymond L. Murphy, 21, son of Mrs. Abe Vermilyea of
Luton, is now taking recruit training at the United States naval
training station at Great Lakes, Ill.
At Camp Swift
Private Eugene Martin Johnson, son of Mrs. Hilda
Johnson, 427 Myrtle Street, has been assigned to Headquarters
Company at Camp Swift, Texas. Private Johnson enlisted here last
July 13.
