INQUEST INTO DEATH of JIM HANEY IS NOT BEING PLANNED
An inquest into the death of Jim Haney, 38 years old, who died in a cell at the city jail, is unlikely, Dr. J. H. Robbins, county coroner, said Wednesday night.

An autopsy performed on the body Wednesday revealed that injuries suffered by the man when he was struck Tuesday afternoon by a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific railroad freight train contributed to his death. No crime was evident in the way the case was handled, the coroner said, and no inquest will be held unless Mr. Haney’s family desires a further investigation of circumstances surrounding his death.

Dr. Robbins’ report of the autopsy was made after he had received a report of the postmortem examination made by Drs. A. C. Starry, Roscoe Jepson and C. A. Katherman. Denatured alcohol, which the man admitted having drunk, also was given by the physicians as a contributing cause of death. The examination revealed that Haney had suffered the fracture of seven ribs and that one of the ribs had punctured a lung. Internal hemorrhages were found. Examination of the brain revealed that Haney had suffered from an alcoholic brain and brain hemorrhages, the coroner said.
