LE MARS MAN IS VICTIM OF MONTANA HIGHWAYMEN

LeMars, Ia., Dec. 19.—Special:  O. R. Wernli has returned to LeMars from Glasgow, Mont., where he has been in a hospital recuperating from injuries and exposure as the result of an attack by bandits, who robbed him and left him unconscious on the prairie near Hogeland, Mont.

Mr. Wernli, former LeMars resident, is employed by a Minneapolis grain company as a buyer, visiting many isolated country elevators.  As he was traveling along a lonely road, two men leaped on his running board, knocked him unconscious, robbed him of $87 in cash and all his possessions, drained his car of gas and oil, and left him.  When he recovered he managed to make his way to a ranch.
