Motor
Wm. Durham went to Lucas County on business the first of the
week.
Rev. Dempster preached his farewell sermon to the people of
Springdale.
Carrie Trimble spent Saturday and Sunday with her friends in
Indianola.
We were well aware that the Corbett in the row ar Sandyville did
live somewhere near Motor.
Rev. Calmerhas been holding a series of meetings at the Highland
church. Rev. Dempster assists this week.
No services at the Friends' church last Sabbath. The quarterly
meeting at Ackworth called the minister and members from this
place.
Summerset
We are having a variety of weather just now.
The Woodmen had a supper at the hall Tuesday evening.
Sade Brown returned home from Louisville, Ky., Monday evening.
Miss Siders, of Des Moines, was an over Sunday visitor at E. P.
Frisbee's.
Lee Ragsdale was up from Ottumwa last week shaking hands with old
friends.
Mrs. Louder, Charlie and Ella Dall, of Council Bluffs, are
visiting friends here.
Mrs. May Cassady and Grace Adams came from Des Moines to spend
Sunday at home returning Monday morning.
School closes this week. The work done by the teacher, Miss
Mosher, has been highly gratifying to the patrons.
Last week was observed as a week of prayer at the Baptist church
and there has been considerable interest manifested. The meetings
are being continued this week.
Social Plains
Will Hodges has moved onto the Lacy farm
W. H. Coleman was called called here last Friday to preach the
funeral sermon of John Glasgow's little girl who died the 15th.
Tom Sinnard, who has been working at the Union stock yards in
Chicago, is at home on a visit and talks of remaining.
Jim Turnipseed and Edd Carpenter started for Nebraska last
Monday, overland with teams, the former for Lincoln and the
latter for Harland Co.
Palmyra
H. J. Switzer is in Chicago this week.
John Bainridge sold his hogs last week.
Coy Craig has been on the sick list for sometime.
The Methodist church will be repaired this week.
Mrs. Goldizen is visiting friends in Marion county.
Mark Ray, of Hartford, attended lodge here Saturday night.
David Hart has been sick and unable to work nearly all winter.
Grandma Mote died Monday morning and was buried Tuesday.
Prof. Jones closed a successful term of school at Palmyra last
Friday.
Charlie Evans is rejoicing over the arrival of a new boy at his
home.
Cattle and turkey feeders are discouraged on account of low
prices.
C. W. Farley is the happiest man in town. It is a new Democratic
boy at his home.
Nellie Bartholomew and Fred Campbell were the champion spellers
at the spelling school last week.
F. M. Douglas, J. W. Bruce, J. H. Miller and M. T. Flesner were
in Indianola last Saturday on business.
The young people had a social party and oyster supper at G. M.
Batholomew's last Friday evening and report an enjoyable time.
