HOLD YOUNG WOMAN IN DANCING PARTY ROBBERY
Mrs. Maxine Davis, 21, Ottumwa, was held by local police today in connection with the theft of more than $100 from an elderly man during a dancing party at a night club Tuesday night.
The woman pleaded innocent to a robbery count when arraigned in city police court and was held under $5,000 bond pending a hearing December 6.
Officers said, however, that she later signed a confession and returned $60 of the stolen money.
Information obtained by police was to the effect that Mrs. Davis and a group of several persons met at Buck’s Place on West Main street, and then they went to the Boathouse in the west end. In the party was John Bales, Ottumwa, who told officers today that he had $185 in his pocket when he met the young woman. After leaving the Boathouse, the group went to Colony club, east of Ottumwa, where Mrs. Davis was arrested.
