~Auxiliary Bertha A. Johnson of 53 Hill avenue has completed her training at the first WAAC training center at Ft. Des Moines. She has been sent to Arkansas for assignment at the fifth WAAC training center at Monticello. (Photo included of Miss Johnson with this News item)
~Alfred H. Howard, seaman first class in the navy, has returned to his ship at Philadelphia after spending a nine-day leave with his wife, Mrs. Mary Howard of 315 East Fourth street, and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Howard. Seaman Howard has just returned from Casablanca, where he met a friend from home. C. S. Tyree, electrician’s mate first class, who is stationed there in a naval construction battalion.
