STATE DEATHS

HART FUNERAL
ALBIA — The funeral was Wednesday afternoon at the Albia Church of Christ for Fred Albert Hart of Albia. The Rev. O. M. Morgan, church pastor, officiated, and burial was in Oak View cemetery here. Mr. Hart, who was 33 years old, died Monday, two weeks after an acute appendicitis operation.

LAWLESS FUNERAL
MELROSE — Frank Lawless, 56 years old, of six miles south of Melrose, farmer and former railroad fireman, was found dead in bed from heart disease at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

He was born in Delaware county and had been a long-time resident of Jackson township in Monroe county.

Surviving are his widow and several children, one sister, Mrs. Tim Daley, of Hiteman, and two brothers, William and Andy Lawless of Melrose.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Melrose St. Patrick’s church with the Rev. D. C. Browne officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Mt. Calvary cemetery.

WILLIAM RAMSEY
Centerville — William Ramsey, 84 years old, teamster here and resident of this vicinity for about sixty years, died Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Boston, on East Orchard street. He was born in Illinois in 1850, the son of Eli and Lucy Ramsey, and was married to Miss Bell Crowel of Keokuk. His wife died five years ago. He is survived by four children, Mrs. Boston of Centerville, Eli Ramsey of Centerville, Mrs. Madge Hendricks of Des Moines and T. L. Ramsey of Illinois. Funeral services will probably be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Beckner funeral home here in charge of the Rev. Frank Wilder. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

SELMA
Mrs. May Johnson of Sacramento, Calif., visited Wednesday at the home of Mrs. M. N. Henkle.

The Women’s Community Club held its monthly all-day meeting in the clubrooms, Wednesday. A lunch was served at noon to the public. The afternoon was spent working on a quilt for the orphan’s home in Ottumwa.
