Cholera
Up to this date we have had two cases of cholera in our city, but no deaths. We intend to keep our country friends advised of the health or otherwise of our city, and upon our report they may rely, as we shall state the truth in all cases as far as they come to our knowledge. We do this to guard against unnecessary excitement, that must from the nature of things, grow out of the many rumors that will be circulated through the country in relation to the cholera in our city.
Cholera
At a meeting of the Physicians
of Keosauqua and vicinity, held on the 2nd inst. it was resolved to call a mass
meeting of the Physicians of Van Buren county and vicinity, at the Court House
in Keosauqua on Monday next, the 9th inst. to take under consideration the
subject of Cholera, and to adopt and recommend to the public, the most efficient
means to be used in the first stages of the disease until a Physician can be
procured.
The citizens are invited to attend.
Keosauqua July 2nd 1849.
