Mount Ayr seems to have had a shooting scrap last Thursday
evening. Herbert Johnston, auto dealer, died while being taken to
a Creston hospital, having been shot three times by his wife,
Pearl Johnston, who in turn shot herself, the bullet passing
through her lung and not necessarily fatal. The coroner’s
jury decided that Johnston “met death at the hands of his
wife by a bullet feloniously fired by Pearl Johnston from a
revolver or pistol.”
