Rev. and Mrs. E. Goeringer received a message Thursday that their son, Sgt. Arthur Goeringer was missing in action, December 10th, in Germany. Sgt. Arthur left in March, 1942, for Camp Barkely, Texas, and later was sent to Louisiana and California. In January 1944, he was home on furlough, then went to Fort Dix, New Jersey, and was sent overseas to England, France and Germany. He was in the 90th Division.

Mrs. Richard Dykstra received the word Thursday that her husband, Pvt. Richard Dykstra, was seriously wounded in Germany on December 2nd, 1944. He was an Engineer in the Third Army. Pvt. Dykstra went to Camp Roberts, California, on March 23, 1944. While enroute to Fort Meade, Maryland, in the latter part of August, he spent two weeks furlough at home. On September 20, he arrived in France. Monday, January 1st, Mrs. Dykstra received a short letter from her husband dated December 21st, stating that he was glad to be alive yet.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Meylink were informed the past week that Mrs. Willis Meylink of Sioux Center received word from the War Department that her husband, Pvt. Willis Meylink, who was seriously wounded while in combat in Germany, but who is now in a hospital in England, was not making satisfactory progress. Sunday she received a letter from Willis dated December 19th, written with his left hand, stating that they should not worry and that he was getting along fairly well.

August Gackes of Rock Valley Celebrate Anniversary
Mrs. Rose Murphy and daughter, Eleanor, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Murphy and family and Gregory Gacke and Agnes Gacke attended the Silver Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. August Gacke of Rock Valley Saturday evening, January 13th, when friends and relatives gathered to help them celebrate the event.
The evening was spent playing “500.” High score for ladies was won by Dorothy De Smet of Hudson, and consolation prize by Eleanor Murphy. Men’s high score was won by Peter De Lire of Rock Rapids, consolation by August Gacke. The traveling prize was won by Bobby Gacke of Alvord.
At the close of the evening a delicious lunch was served by the self-invited guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Gacke werfe present a purse of twenty-five silver dollars.
Sgt. Arthur Goeringer Is Again Back on Front Line
Rev. and Mrs. E. Goeringer have received several letters and also an official communication informing the family that their son, Sgt. Arthur Goeringer is again back on the fighting front.
Through some misunderstanding of event, Rev. and Mrs. Goeringer were notified that their son was missing in action on December 10, in Germany.
This is indeed good news for the Goeringer family and their many Hull friends rejoice with them.

Mrs. Jelle De Boer of Denver, Colorado, spent a few days with her sister, Mrs. Etta Niekerk.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vander Schaaf entertained a number of guests at their home an evening the past week in honor of their daughter Esther, who recently became the bride of Gerrit J. Prange.
