Grant Chapman Rites At Seney
Grant Chapman, 79, well known farmer of Sioux county and resident of Seney vicinity nearly all his life, died Saturday, March 25, at Carlsbad, N. M. Mr. Chapman had been failing in health for some time and death was caused by a heart attack.
Of late years Mr. Chapman lived in Seney after retiring from his farm in Sioux county. For the past few years he spent the winters in New Mexico with his daughter, Miss Constance Chapman, who is a teacher in the Carlsbad schools.
Grant Chapman was a son of the late T. K. Chapman, well known resident of LeMars for many years. He was born at Greenfield, Ohio, February 6, 1865, and came with his parents to Aurora, Buchanan county, Iowa, when a boy and later to LeMars. He was married to Margaret March, who preceded him in death about seven years ago. He is survived by one son, Thurit K. Chapman of Sioux county and a daughter, Miss Constance Chapman, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Elam Chapman of Sioux county. Two brothers, Charles and Fred, preceded him in death.
Mr. Chapman was a successful farmer and highly respected by all who knew him as a good citizen and neighbor. The remains were brought home and funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Seney with Rev. J. E. Lombard officiating and interment made in the Seney cemetery.
