Mr. and Mrs. Gerritt Rensink and children will be guests at the T. Ruvers home near Sheldon Monday.
Rev. Walter Clyde, Jr. arrived from Pittsburg on Saturday for a visit in the parental home. Rev. Clyde Jr. had charge of the services Sunday in the U.P.
church in Paullina.
John Grootens and Mr. Kamminga attended the meeting of the Sioux County Tax Revision committee for reduction of public expenditures, that was held in Orange City last week.
Juel Ersland of Des Moines is assisting at the Dethmers farm.
Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Maris, of Iowa City, will arrive in Boyden on Tuesday for a visit in the parental Maris home. They will be Christmas dinner guests in the parental Brown home in Sioux City.
George Allen the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schafer has been on the sick list the past week. Dr. DeBay, of Orange City, was called and we are happy to report that the baby is improving nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Blumeyer and children were Sunday callers in the parental Ben Grooters home.
Mr. and Mrs. John Reimers and children and Mr. and Mrs. Bil Reimers and children were Sunday guests in the Grandma Reimers home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruby Jantzen and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jantzen of Hull, were Sunday guests at the A.B. Vanden Brink home.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woelber were the parents of a still born baby Tuesday. The Reporter and their friends extend sympathy.
Mrs. Viola Kamlade of Matlock is visiting this week in the Siebe San Diepen home.
John Gardner spent the week end in the parental home in Mason City and he left on Monday morning to fill his new position as a salesman covering the state of Kansas.
Mrs. Harry Pressler is out of her home for the first time in two weeks, having been confined with a severe cold.
Correction - Arie Vander Hart has moved into the Robert Moret house and not Arle Grooters.
Arnold Stientjes a teacher in the schools at Beresford, S.D., is expected home next Friday for the Christmas vacation.
Velma Henning is expected home from Sioux Falls College on Friday.
Marion DeVelder of Boyden has this year completed his first season as a member of the varsity fotball [sic] squad of Central College at Pella Iowa. DeVelder was given opportunity early in the season to display his ability at end and soon became a fixture on the team. He easily completed enough time to win his first major athletic letter of his career. With a year's experience he should become one of the outstanding ends of the Iowa Conference.
Mr. and Mrs. Print Horn will entertain at goose dinner on Christmas day their children, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Den Hartog and children of Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. John Heskels and children, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reimers and son, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Horn and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Horn.
Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Harmon will entertain their children, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Vander Lee and children, Mr. and Mrs. S. Melvin Harmon and son, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harmon at a duck dinner on Christmas day.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Carl and daughter and Mrs. Eldred of Sioux City and Lena Schreuder will be guests in the S.C. Green home.
Mr. and Mrs. Luymes will be Christmas dinner guests in the P.H. Van Zee home in Rock Valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wargowsky and son Bobbie will have Grandma Gardner as a Christmas dinner guest and goose will be served.
Mr. and Mrs. Dethmers will have Christmas dinner in the parental Griffith home in Rockwell City.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCrum and children will be Christmas dinner guests at the Boyden hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Koolbeck and daughter will enjoy Christmas dinner in the Albert Neuinhuis home in Hospers.
Dr. and Mrs. Bolstad and Jim will eat Christmas dinner at the Hotel with Mrs. Jackson and Ruthye and Maud.
Glen McCrum drove to Illinois on Friday for Lorraine McCrum who is a student at the Frances Shimer school for Girls. She will spend Christmas vacation with her folks.
The Chris, Fred, George, John and Will Reimers families and the Bob Betten family will spend Christmas afternoon with Grandma Reimers.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Flihr announce the birth of an eight pound daughter born on Monday at the home of Grandma Heitritter. She has been named Donna Joyce. Margaret Rehberg and Bertha Heitritter are assisting at the Fifhr home.
L. Rons, John Sitters and Abe Vanderbergh are among those who have been drawn as petit jurors for the January term of district court.
Community Shocked by Sudden Death of Young Mother
The entire community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Cornie DeValois, who died at the S.G. Vanden Brink home in Boyden at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. Funeral services will be conducted at the S.G. Vanden Brink home on Thursday at one o'clock in the afternoon, and at 1:30 at the United Presbyterian church. The complete obituary of the young mother will be published next week.
