Sioux County Court Notes
-The court read and considered the petition on file regarding George
M. Vande Brake vs Hannes Vande Brake, in which the appointment of a
guardian was asked over the plaintiff. John K. Vande Brake has been
appointed guardian and his bond fixed at $10,000.
- T.E. Klay, representing C.M. McCrum, demands judgment against Joe
W. Kuyper in the sum of $862.40.
- Lynn L. Myers demands judgement against Ralph H. and Carrie Vander
Berg in the sum of $144.95, the amount being due for medical
attention.
- Mae Snyder demands judgment against Frank Faulk, et al, asking
that her share of the estate of Belle Donnell, deceased, be
confirmed and that partition of the same be made, or if same cannot
be equitably divided, that a sale be ordered and the proceeds,
divided.
- The report in the estate of Blanche A. McCrory, minor heir of the
Mrs. Marie McCrory estate, was approved.
- The estates of Hendrik Gerritsen and Hette Keizer have been
ordered exempt from inheritance tax.
- A public sale of the personal property of August F. Jahde has been
ordered. Certain property has been exempted for the use of his
widow, Mrs. Mary K. Jahde.
- The court has ordered a sale of real estate in the case of Arie
Franken, incompetent, also of personal property in the N. Kooima
estate.
- Cornelius De Valois, who has acted as executor in the De Valois
estate, has been discharged by the court.
- The H. A. Knowlton estate has been exempted by the court from an
inheritance tax.
Ralph Kurvink of Hawarden, was arrested by Sheriff Synhorst and
Hawarden officials last Friday on a charge of maintaining a liquor
nuisance. Sheriff Synhorst took him to Cherokee where he plead
guilty to Judge Maher. He was fined $300 and costs and was further
sentenced to serve three months in the county jail. The jail
sentence was suspended upon payment of the fine. Kurvink was the
mamager of the Sinclair filling station in Hawarden and admitted he
had been bootlegging. County Attorney Hoeven filed an injunction
against Kurvink and the owner of the station, Elizabeth Herter,
Wednesday, restraining them from operating a liquor nuisance. --

While playing on the school yard Chester Sitter stumbled and fell
backward and brok his arm. His instructor, Prof. John Timmer,
summoned medical aid and the lad is now convalescing. His parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Sitter, were out of town when the accident
happened.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Winter announce the arrival of a bouncing baby
boy on Wednesday, December 10. The mother and boy are doing very
well.
An eleven pound baby boy was born at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will
Reimers on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Mrs. A.E. Miller, Harriet Miller and Miss Lorraine mcCrum were at
Sioux City last Saturday. Miss Ora King came home with them for a
week end visit, before returning to her school work at Huron, S.D.
Mr. and Mrs. Gt. Van Roekel from Sioux Center, were visitors at the
Harry Rensink home on Monday.
Evert John De Goode and John Klein from Sioux Center were visitors
in Boyden a day this week.
Mrs. Allen Gillman from Edgerton, Minn., and Mrs. Wm. Verhoef from
Rock Valley were visitors at the Jake and Gerrit P. Koolman home
this week end.
Receiver for George Bank
Ben S. Summerwill, of Des Moines, examiner in charge of closed state
banks in O'Brien county, has been named as the official to supervise
the liquidation of the assets of the George Savings Bank, which
closed November 21.
Drenth - Kammlade.
Jennie Drenth was united in marriage to Mr. Ernest Kammlade,
Wednesday, December 10, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. [the next sentence repeats twice, neither give the parents
names] officiated with Rev. J.W. Brink as officiated with Rev. W.R.
Brink, as assistant. The double ring ceremony was used, and the
bride was presented by her father. The wedding march, from
Lohengrin, was played by Miss Esther Blazgar. Miss Elizabeth Clyde
sang "O Promise Me," accompanied by Miss Miazgar on the piano.
Grace Drenth was bridesmaid and Behrends Kammlade was best man.
Esther Rehberg was the flower girl, and Miss Wallinga was ring
bearer. A wedding breakfact [sic] was served at the church parlors
of the United Presbyterian church. Blessing was asked by Rev. J.W.
Brink and thanks return was given by Rev. W.R. Clyde. Forty-one
guests were present at the delighful banquet. A reception was held
immediately after the breakfast at the parental home. The bride was
dressed in a beautiful white satin dress and the groom was attired
in the conventional black. The happy couple will reside on the
Kammlade farm near Boyden. The couple has the deep respent [sic] of
the entire community and they carry the well wishes of all their
friends and acquaintances.
