TERRIER TRAPPED UNDER PORCH HUNTING FOR RAT

Pierson, Ia.-(Special)-"Rags" a wire haired terrier dog owned by Paul
Franzenburg, Jr. has had his fill of chasing rats for the present.

"Rags" dug under a cement porch at the Franzenburg coal house the other day
in search of a rat. Several hours later a workman heard him whining and
observed the hole made by the dog had closed up behind him.

Members of the Franzenburg family were notified and two holes were made in
the cement and dirt wall to extricate "Rags." He finally managed to crawl
out.

YOUTH NARROWLY ESCAPES DEATH BY ELECTROCUTION

Merrill, Ia.-(Special)-Dick LaBahn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred LaBahn,
narrowly escaped electrocution in the LaBahn garage. Dick was helping about
the garage barefooted and had climbed on the work bench to turn on an
electric light. The bench is covered with metal. There was a short in the
light socket and when he touched it he was thrown from the bench, landing on
his head on the concrete floor and becoming unconscious. Artificial
respiration was employed, but it was some time before he regained
consciousness. Except for a severe burn on the hand when he came in contact
with the current, he suffered no after effects.
