Death of Mrs. Thos. Hatton Died Monday night at home of daughter near Craig
Mrs. Thos. H. Hatton, lifelong resident of Sioux county and for the past
four
or five years a resident of Hawarden, passed away at the home of her
daughter,
Mrs. Walter Schuete, near Craig, at 11:45 Monday night (July 1, 1929),
following a long illness. About four years ago Mrs. Hatton suffered a stroke
and never fully recovered although she was able to attend to her household
duties until three or four months ago, since which time she had been obliged
to use a wheelchair and her strength failed steadily during these months.
Three or four weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs. Hatton moved from Hawarden to the home
of their daughter so that she might receive constant care.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Ireton, Wednesday
afternoon, conducted by Rev. Otto L. Carr of Sioux City, a former pastor of
the Ireton church. Interment was made in the Ireton cemetery. The high
esteem
in which she was held was expressed by the many beautiful floral offerings.
Florence Morey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Morey, was born near Ireton
in
1882. She grew to young womanhood in that vicinity and for a time was a
student at the Hawarden high school. She later attended Mount Morris College
in Illinois and for a number of years was successful teacher. On June 21,
1905, she was united in marriage with Thos. H. Hatton. One daughter was born
to this union. At an early age she united with the Presbyterian church and
was
always a faithful member and an active worker as long as her health
permitted.
The family left the farm and moved to Hawarden about five years ago and Mr.
and Mrs. Hatton continued to reside here until the last few weeks. Her
parents
died within the last few years.
Besides her sorrowing husband, who has tenderly cared for her during her
long
illness, she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Walter Schuette of Ireton,
two
sisters, Mrs. J. A. Eddy of Worthington,, Minn., and Mrs. Harley Whittington
of Hawarden and two grandchildren, besides a host of friends.

DEATH CLAIMS MRS. P. H. BOEVER
Mother of Martin Boever and Mrs. John Schmidt of Alton Dies
Mrs. Catherine Boever died July 3, at her home at LeMars after a long
illness, death being caused by a stroke of paralysis. She was born at
Aurora, Ill., July 1, 1857, her maiden name being Catherine Wengler. She was
married to Philip Boever at that place January 15, 1878, and shortly after
they moved to Plymouth County, settling on a farm in Elgin township. In 1910
they established their home in LeMars. Mr. Boever died eight years ago. Of
the eleven children born to them, seven survive as follows:
Misses Catherine and Lena, at home; Martha, of Alton; Mrs. M. Helbach, of
Elmer, N. J.; John of Struble; Jacob of LeMars; and Mrs. J. J. Schmidt, of
Alton.
Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, LeMars,
and attended by a host of old neighbors and friends.
