PASSED AWAY AT HOME OF DAUGHTER.

Mrs. Reka Dirks, age 89 years, passed away last Wednesday night, May 9th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Meier, two miles north of Craig. Death was due to old age.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon from the Grant township Lutheran Church, Rev. J. D. Meyers officiating. Interment was made in the Grant cemetery.

Reka Mary Hartman was born Oct. 19, 1839, in Voaberg, Germany, where she received her education and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with John H. Dirks in October, 1862, and in 1885 they came to America, locating in Plymouth county. Later they moved to Lennox, S.D., where they farmed for 15 years. Sixteen years ago they returned to Plymouth county and built a home on the farm of their daughter, Mrs. Brunke Brunken, near LeMars, where they lived during the summer but they made their home during the winter months with their children.

Mr. Dirks preceded his wife in death three years. In October 1912, Mr. and Mrs. Dirks celebrated their golden wedding and in 1922 they observed their 60th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by six children, Harm Dirks of Fresno, Calif.; Dick Dirks of Pipestone, Minn.; Mrs. Brunke Brunken and Mrs. E. Lauchstadt of LeMars; Mrs. John Meier of Ireton; and Mrs. Kate Hummels, who resides in Germany.
