BANDITS PEAD NOT GUILTY
Peas of not guilty have been entered by five men indicted for burglary and assault with intent to commit murder as a result of the attempted bank robbery of the Maurice, Ia., bank and the gun battle which followed on the morning of January 5.
Arraignment of the robber suspects took place Monday afternoon before Judge William Hutchinson, of Orange City, Ia. The men who pleaded are John Lavery, William Dingman and Harry Drury, of Sioux City; Guy F. Brooks of Loyuisville, Ky., and Frank Olson, of Chicago.
Attorneys for the men filed demurrers to the indictments, but the motions were overruled by the court. They then entered their pleas, each man asking for a separate trial.
Requests for separate trials were granted and County Attorney Olin G. Reiniger elected to try Harry Drury first. The trial of the first case was set for January 29, with the other cases following.
Attorneys asked for time to file motions for change of venue and court granted them until Saturday morning.
