Mr. and Mrs. M. Rouwenhorst left on Wednesday for Freeport, Illinois, where they will spend the winter at the home of their children, Mr. and Mrs. A. Manus.
Rev. Bruggraaf left this Thursday for Chicago. Mrs. Burggraaf and son Stanley will go to Chicago on Monday and from there they will go to their new home in Michigan.
Mrs. Sip Sipma of Newkirk died at her home Monday after months of suffering from tuberculosis. Deceased was born at this place twenty four years ago and was the daughter of G. Popma. About four years ago she was united in marriage to Sip Sipma who, together with a two year old baby girl, are left to mourn her loss. Besides these, deceased leaves her father, Gerrit Popma, two sisters and two brothers. The baby will be cared for by its grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sipma of Alton. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Douwstra of Newkirk and Rev. Engelsman of this city, in the First Reformed church here.
Albert Jongewaard died early Monday morning at the home of his son, John A., after an illness of about eight weeks. Deceased had reached the age of nearly eighty-eight years and had enjoyed fairly good health until this last sickness. He was born in the Netherlands and came to this country at the age of twenty-two and settled in Pella, where he was united in marriage in 1851, to Miss Jenneke Muilenburg. In 1872 the family moved to Sioux county and lived on a farm north of this place. After the death of his wife and about nine years ago Mr. Jongewaard came to town and has since made his home with his son John and family. Six children survive him: Mrs. J. Baas and Anthony of Marion, North Dakota, Ring of Litchville, North Dakota, Teunis of Sheldon and Mrs. D. Bogaard and John of this place, who were all present at the funeral. Deceased is also survived by a brother Nicholas of Lynden, Washington, who was also present. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Engelsman and Rev. McEwan.
