      J.E. Mieras and Jas. Duven went out into the country, the first to put in a phone line and Jim to put in a pump. John started to work but found the wire was missing so John and Jim came to town for wire. Then Jim was going to put in the pump, but found the pump was missing so John and Jim made another trip to town. Finally John and Jim got the phone and pump in working order and straightway forgot their troubles.

Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Mieras were at LeMars Monday, visiting the latter’s sister.

      Mrs. J.E. Mieras and daughter were Orange City visitors Monday.
      J.E. Mieras has gone into the furniture manufacturing business. He makes a specialty of the so-called Mission style.
      M.A. Mieras, of Remsen, spent Washington’s Birthday at the parental home.
      Monday was the 75th birthday of Mrs. A. Mieras, and in honor of the event, the children and other relatives gathered at her home to congratulate and wish her many more returns. Mrs. Oldenkamp, a daughter, and children of Rock Valley were also present.
