Mieras and DeJong will give another moving picture show next Saturday evening, Aug. 6. A fine program will be given. The subjects are as follows: Husbands At Liberty; In Days Of Napoleon; Shoemaker’s Daughter; Fatal Courtship; The Actor Burgler. Everybody come and see an excellent program.

J.E. Mieras and family moved Thursday into their fine new residence in the east part of town, which is now completed.
Next Wednesday there will be a great many strangers in Maurice, and they will get a better impression of the town if all weeds are cut and everything is cleaned up. Now get busy.
Mrs. H.D. Oggel and sister, Miss Eva Mensink, were at Sioux City last week.

THE DEATH ROLL.

Herman John Louis Mandelkow died at the home of his parents one mile southeast of Struble on Saturday, August thirteenth shortly after the noon hour of pneumonia after a sickness of only a few days.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mandelkow and was born near Struble, December nineteenth 1897, and was therefore twelve years, seven months and twenty-four days old when he died. 

The funeral was held Monday, August fifteenth from the Evangelical Lutheran Church and was conducted by Rev. C. D. Nuoffer.  Interment was made in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Reading township.  The services were well attended—the church being filled to its utmost capacity.  Deceased is survived by his parents and a brother Emil and a sister Alice.  The sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved family.

WAYSIDE NOTES:
~Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mandelkow of Struble mourn the loss of their twelve year old son, Henry (sic Herman), who died of pneumonia after an illness of only two days. 

~Gust Tasias, a Greek section hand, was killed near Marcus while returning from work. He fell under the handcar receiving bruises that produced hemorrhage of the brain.
