Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Kluender of Germantown celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Wednesday.  They are aged seventy-four and sixty-nine years.  They have thirteen children - four boys and nine girls - all married.  They are H.F. Kluender, Mrs. H. Beerman, Mrs. L. Lang, W. Kluender, Mrs. H. Ebel, Mrs. F. Ebel all of Granville, Mrs. A. Gruenhagen, Mrs. H. Reideman all of Germantown, Herman Kluender, Ed Kluender of LeMars, Mrs. John Kruse of Sandstone, Minnesota, Mrs. Max Frohriep of Sharon, North Dakota and Fred Kluender of near Granville.  All were present at the celebration.  Nearly all the grandchildren - fifty-three in all - were there and also fifteen great grandchildren.  Services were held at the German Lutheran church in Germantown.  The children bought them as a present a beautiful carpet and also a couple of easy chairs and numerous smaller articles.  Mr. and Mrs. Kluender were both born in Germany and came to Cook county, Illinois about sixty years ago as children.  They lived there until 1888 when they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm near Paullina.  A few years ago they moved to Germantown.  They are both healthy and bid fair to live a number of years yet.

Miss Ida Hoppe - twelve year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoppe - died last Saturday at her home of cerebro spinal meningitis.  She had been ailing for a few weeks and kept getting worse so Doctor Hermann of Sioux City was called to operate on her but it was too late.  She leaves one brother and six sisters.
