A FATAL ACCIDENT
Henry Oldencamp Loses His Life by a Runaway Team.
ONLY FIFTEEN YEARS OLD.
The Funeral Held From the Reform Church Saturday.
Last Friday Wm. Oldencamp and son Henry, who live six miles southeast of Boyden, went to Mr. Oldencamp’s brothers home, four miles southeast of town, to husk some corn. About 4 o’clock the young man went out into the field where his father was, with a lunch and as he went past the team one of the horses jumped and the young man sprang and caught the bridle which frightened the other horse, and the team started and ran throwing him to the ground and the wheels of the wagon passed over him, breaking his neck and left arm near the shoulder. His father ran to him and picked him up, after which he gasped twice and all was over.
His death was instantaneous and so quick that he never realized what had hurt him. He was taken to the house and his mother summoned, also Dr. Brink, who sent out and prepared him for the grave. The parents were heart broken over their sad and sudden loss, and they too needed the doctor’s care to sustain them in the trying ordeal.
The funeral services were held at the Reform church, Saturday afternoon, Rev. Bauma preaching the funeral sermon, and he was laid to his last long rest in the Boyden cemetery. The services were attended by a very large gathering of relatives and friends while Rev. Bauma spoke in a very impressive manner. The parents and friends have the sympathy of the good people of Boyden in their sad affliction.
