Jake Fisch is on the sick list.

John Rathman of Remsen was seen on our streets, Monday.

Peter Mich and John Croat attended church at Alton, Sunday.

Prof. H. G. Noeffor, of Germantown, was in town, Saturday.

Chas. Harris went to Paullina Monday to hear the Ottumwa Quartette.

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Griggs attended the dance at Alton, Saturday night.

Wm. Selken of near Remsen was visiting with the John Mohr family, Sunday.

Things at the Peter Krieps sale Monday brought fair prices, especially the
cattle brought surprisingly high prices.

The Ricker barber shop is being repapered preparatory to its being occupied
by John Horner, a barber from Smithland, Iowa.

Chas. F. Hoppe and Miss Lindeman were united in marriage at the bride’s home
in Caledonia township last Friday, Rev. Horn officiating.

A number of our young people expect to attend the school entertainment given
in district No. 8 Baker township, Saturday evening.

Chris Wollenberg and Mary Dobertine were tied in matrimonial bonds at the
bride’s home east of town last Sunday, Rev. Horn officiating.

The R. R. Barber family removed to Sheldon Monday, where Mr. Barber will
open a tonsorial parlor on Main street. It is with regret that we see them
leave, and we all wish them prosperity.

Mrs. David Griggs and her son J. H. heard the Ottumwa Quartette sing at
Alton Tuesday evening. John, whose judgment in anything musical ought to be
reliable, pronounces the quartette “finer than silk.”

Fred Meyer’s fifteen year old son, Henry, died from heart disease last
Friday afternoon. The funeral took place Monday afternoon and the remains
interred in the Lutheran cemetery near Germantown, Rev. Horn officiating.
