YOUR NAME IN PRINT.

John Arend, an old settler of Plymouth county, and well known to a great
many Alton people, passed peacefully away at the home of his son in Merrill,
Iowa, last Friday. He helped to build the first Catholic church in LeMars,
and was the first postmaster in Plymouth county, coming there in 1867. The
body was brought to LeMars Saturday morning for interment.

LE MARS NEWS.

Mrs. Jas. Farley died Monday evening from the effects of an over dose of
morphine. She had felt a headache during the evening and in attempting to
relieve it, took so much that medical aid could do nothing to relieve her.

The following are the names of the pupils neither tardy nor absent for the
month ending October 2nd in Miss Murray’s room in the public school at
Maurice: Jake Den Otter, Henry Santama,
Even Cheever, Sarah Miersma, Tillie Feinstra, Lulu Bowen, Ida Mieras, Ary
Den Otter.

LE MARS NEWS.

Mrs. D. W. Dwight died Sunday after a long illness. A large number of
friends came up from Cherokee on a special train to attend the funeral which
was held Tuesday.
