CHASED DAUGHTER WITH BIG KNIFE
JAMES WILHITE SENT TO COUNTY JAIL FOR 40 DAYS.
Charged By His Wife With Having Driven Girl from Home With Butcher Knife Yesterday.

“He came home drunk yesterday morning and drove my daughter out of the house with a butcher knife,” declared Mrs. Celia Wilhite, 919 Ninth street, to Justice of the Peace Carl Kuehl in the Rock Island police court this morning, appearing against her husband, James Wilhite.

For some time, according to the testimony of the complaining witness, Wilhite had made threats that he would do bodily harm to members of he family.  According to Mrs. Wilhite, her husband has done little work of late, and has been frequenting saloons and coming home intoxicated.  Yesterday morning, while intoxicated, he is charged with having driven his young daughter out of the place, having a butcher knife in his hand.

The maximum fine of $200 and costs was assessed Wilhite this morning by Justice Kuehl, and Wilhite, in default of the amount of the fine, began serving out his sentence of 40 days in the county jail.
