Horse thieves infest the neighborhood of La Porte City.
Ground has been broken for the new M.E. church at Des Moines.
Major Thompson, Congressman from the 5th district, has not missed a roll call in the House, is always in his seat when the House is in session, and has made several speeches.
Sneddon, the miner, stabbed at Des Moines on the 16th inst. is still alive, though he will probably die. A portion of the lung exudes through the wound in his breast, and there are internal difficulties. Bond, his assassin, has been removed to a place of greater security, as the miners are determined to lynch him if Sneddon dies.
