POOR LOSER
Last Saturday brought a good trade for our merchants. Despite the
mud, the streets were well lined with people. After noon quite a
crowd assembled on the south side of the park to witness a
wrestling match between Abe Stephens and George Lee. They opened
out with a few preliminaries, but closed with fewer, the first
fall resulting in a broken arm for Lee. He retired to Dr. Horne's
office and had his arm adjusted.

PIG IN A POKE?
Something new under the sun has come out in the way of 'pound
parties.' No money is taken at the door, but each one is required
to bring a package that shall weigh not less than a pound, tied
up so that its contents cannot be seen. At the close of the
party, the packages are sold to the highest bidder. Of course,
lots of fun results, as no one is allowed to examine his package
until it is paid for, and the packages contain all sorts of
articles.
