SIDNEY EXCITED OVER ABDUCTION.
George W. Moore of Omaha Carries Away His Young Son -- Parents
Separated.
Sidney, Iowa, July 19 -- This city is considerably excited over
the abduction of a 2 1/2 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. George W.
Moore, by the former during the absence of his wife. Moore, who
is a bookkeeper in a railroad office in Omaha, and his wife have
been separated a year and a half, but Moore has the privilege of
visting his children, living with their grandparents, whose
daughter is Moore's wife. Last evening Moore drove up in a buggy
and went in the house to see the children. While no one was
looking Moore took the little fellow, whose name is Granden, in
his arms, carried him to the buggy, and dashing down the street
as fast as the horse would go, the fleeing pair were soon out of
sight. The grandfather of the child, Thomas Wilson, hustled to
the office of Sheriff Harris, secured a warrant from the county
judge and, accompanied by the sheriff, Deputy John Adams and
Constable Brown, took up the trail after the fugitives. Moore was
formerly county auditor, holding the office four years. Mrs.
Moore makes her living as a trained nurse and is at the present
time in Kansas.
