Council Bluffs Mention
Judge Carson held court for a short time yesterday morning for
the purpose of listening to motions.
Dan Carrigg has withdrawn from the bond of Charles Young, charged
with robbery, and Young has in consequence been locked up.
Foedisch, the saloonkeeper, is retaliating by claiming that the
police are persecuting him and claims that he has not been
harboring crooks about his place.
Conductor William Kinnan of dining car "G," on the
Milwaukee, will receive his friends aboard the car at the
transfer this evening between 5 and 6:40 and will entertain them
royally.
Colonel J.J. Steadman goes to Harlan tonight to address a
campfire made up of Grand Army men, the Women's Relief corps and
the Sons of Veterans. Officers of the post are to be installed by
Colonel Consigney of Avoca.
William Kincaid of Cut-off island appeared before Justice Barnett
yesterday in a sadly dilapidated condition, and asked for a
warrant for the arrest of his son, who did the assaulting which
caused his sorry appearance. He got it.
Justice Barnett occupied the greater part of the day yesterday in
hearing the evidence in the case of the state against Wilson,
charged with assaulting A.W. Turner with intent to commit murder
at the Coyle farm last summer. A great deal of conflicting
testimony was introduced, and the justice deferred his opinion
until Saturday.
Marriage
John M. Wickersham of Nebraska and Miss Lizzie Lieb of Council
Bluffs were married by Justice Schurz at the residence of the
bride's brother, 127 South First streeet, last evening.
