GERMANY, ITALY HOLD 24 IOWANS - 2 Des Moines Men Are Prisoners
WASHINGTON, D.C. (U.P.)—The War Department made public Monday the names of 261 United States soldiers, including 13 Iowans, held prisoner of war by Germany.

From Iowa and their next of kin:

Pvt. (f.c.) Eugene R. Lee—mother, Mrs. Elsie Lee, Decorah.

Sergt. John H. McGlothlen—father, E. B. McGlothlen, Jefferson.

Pvt. (f.c) Thearl Mesecher—mother, Mrs. Arthur Beason, 2104 Meek ave., Des Moines.

First Lieutenant Gilbert E. Montour—wife, Mrs. Charlotte J. Montour, St. Olaf.

Other Iowa Casualties:

MANLY—Mrs. Carolyn Kuchar has received a letter from Brig. Gen. H. B. Lewis, in North Africa, that her son, Pvt. Kenneth Kuchar, member of the paratroop division, was drowned June 17, in the North Africa area. On June 16, he wrote a letter to his parents telling them he was “O.K.” He had been ill in a hospital for three weeks prior to that.

WAVERLY—George Mason, member of a submarine crew with the Asiatic fleet, reported missing in action in the Philippines 14 months ago, is a prisoner of the Japanese.
