EATS 55 PANCAKES AND WINS CONTEST.

HUMBOLDT, IA.—Charles Scharp is the champion pancake eater of Humboldt—perhaps the entire United States.
He found the batter to his liking Saturday night at Humboldt’s annual Pancake Day festival and gave what pancake eating contest fans considered a remarkable exhibition.
The champ broke all existing records, his admirers said, by consuming 55 pancakes at a sitting. Last year’s champion could only get down 37.
The cakes were four inches in diameter.
It took 10,000 of the pancakes, 50 pounds of butter, 27 gallons of syrup and 4,000 cups of coffee to feed the crowd of several thousand.
