PLACED IN KITCHEN CABINET COFFIN AND BURIED IN LE MARS
GARDEN
From a shallow grave in the backyard of the home where she once
lived, Plymouth County officers Saturday afternoon removed the
body of Mrs. L. A. Trow, LeMars, Ia., widow. She had been buried
in a kitchen cabinet. Officers are shown placing the cabinet
containing her body in a pine box. This is the frame house where
Mrs. L. A. Trow lived with her daughter, Mrs. Sumner Knox, who is
now being held in 'protective custody. (photos included with this news item)
GUY M. BRANDT IS DEAD AT 65 - SERVED AS AUDITOR OF
EQUITABLE LIFE
Guy Moffett Brandt, 65, retired auditor of the Equitable Life
Insurance Co. of Iowa, a son of a pioneer Iowa family and a
lifetime Des Moines resident, died at his home, 1714 Logan Ave.,
at 5:45 p.m. Saturday. He had suffered a heart attack Friday
morning. Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed
Saturday night. A grandson of Isaac Brandt, veteran Iowa
legislator and former Des Moines postmaster, Mr. Brandt was born
in Des Moines in 1873. His father, Amos W. Brandt, a captain in
the Spanish-American War, was a Des Moines real estate dealer and
former county auditor.
Guy Moffett Brandt was graduated from East High School and
attended college at Monmouth, Ill. He served as deputy Polk
County auditor and entered the insurance business in 1901. He
retired from the Equitable in June after 32 years of service. He
was a member of the Presbyterian Church , the Chamber of
Commerce, Pioneer Club, Masonic Lodge, Des Moines Consistory, __
Ga Zig Shrine, and the Knights of Pythias. He had been
secretary-treasurer of the Pioneer Club since 1926 and was post
