~Miss Ellen Dempster returned on Sunday from Plainview, Neb., where she has
been the past two months, caring for her sister, Mrs. Robert Scott, who is
ill.

~ Hale Parker, who is recovering from pneumonia in Sacred Heart Hospital,
was reported improved Thursday. Mrs. Parker and their baby expect to leave
the hospital in a few days.

~ Miss Rosemary Sartori and Mrs. D. C. Lenihan attended the concert course
in Sioux City on Monday evening and were over night guests in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lennon.

~P. H. Dethlefs, father of E. C. Dethlefts, principal of Union Consolidated
school, died in the University hospital in Iowa City early Thursday morning.
Funeral arrangements had not been made Thursday afternoon.

~Mr. and Mrs. John Dobbert at 921 First avenue SE, who celebrated their
forty-eighth wedding anniversary on Sunday, recalled that they had been
subscribers to the LeMars Sentinel for forty-eight years.

~Rev. N. L. Haney, a former pastor of the LeMars Baptist church, was calling
on friends here this week. Rev. Haney is now field agent for the Sioux
Falls Baptist college. He will preach in the Baptist church in LeMars,
Sunday, March 26.

~Miss Evelyn Huxtable, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Huxtable, of Omaha,
spent the week end in the home of her grandmother, Mrs. John Huxtable. Mr.
and Mrs. Huxtable are moving to Sioux City, where Mr. Huxtable is making a
firm change.

~Mr. and Mrs. John Rees and daughter Janet, who were former residents of
LeMars and have been living in California the past few years, have returned
to Iowa. Mr. Rees has accepted a position with Afher Motor Company of
Spencer. Mrs. Rees and Janet will visit friends in LeMars for several days
before moving to Spencer.

~Earl Earnest, former LeMars man, has been elected president of the Hamilton
County Motor Sales company at Webster City, Iowa, with which he has been
connected the past year. Mr. Earnest is also secretary-treasurer of the
company. He succeeds as president, G. S. Becker of Fort Dodge, who is no
longer associated with the company. The company employs fifteen men, one of
whom is Harold Koener, also a former LeMars man.

First Baptist

Rev. N. L. Haney of Sioux Falls, S.D., a former pastor of this church, will preach for us at this morning hour.  Rev. Haney is now field representative of Sioux Falls college.
B. Y. P. U., 6:45 p.m.
The evening church service will be a pageant, “The Challenge of the Cross” by the World Wide guild, in charge of Mrs. George Jennings.  This service begins at 7:30 p.m.
Our church is cooperating with some of the churches in Passion week observances.  Services will be held in Hildreth Memorial church on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:30.  We will have our own annual evening communion service in our church on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.  Good Friday program at the Presbyterian church from 1 to 3 p.m. These services lead up to the Easter service on April 9.
We are observing Easter Sunday with a very full program including Easter Cantata, “Life Eternal” by the choir in the evening.
Special evangelistic meetings will begin on April 16 with Rev. Mervin E. Rosell as evangelist.
Sioux Valley Association young people’s rally will be held at Spencer, March 31 and April 1st. ~S. Alva Jones, pastor

Hildreth Memorial Evangelical
Church school, 9:45 a.m. A new series of studies is offered to those who are interested in the following subjects. These are open to all who wish to enroll.
A course in “The Historic Jesus” will deal with the facts of the life of Christ.  Here is an opportunity to refresh your memory on the main details of what is known as to the events in Jesus’ life when he lived in Palestine.
A course on “Comparative Religions” will enable those who wish to know something about other world religions to see the relation of these to Christianity.

We are also continuing the special Bible classes using the international lessons for those who do not wish to study the above courses.
Divine worship, 10:45 a.m. The pastor will speak on the subject, “Trustee of Divine Gifts.”
E. L. C. E. societies:  Intermediates, 2:00 p.m.; Juniors, 6:30 p.m.; Young people’s 6:30.
