MOURN LOSS OF BABY
Infant Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brabant
Succumbs to Illness

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brabant, residing at 36 Second Ave. SE, mourn the loss of
their infant daughter, Helen Marian, who succumbed to illness Sunday. The
little girl was born on July 19. The funeral will be held this morning at
St. Joseph Church in this city.

A permit for a license to marry was secured Friday at the courthouse by
Alfred Nitzschke, of Remsen, and Ruth Rosburg, of Cherokee.

RESIDES HERE HALF CENTURY
Mrs. Ann Rees Lived in Elgin Township for Fifty Years
AN HONORED PIONEER
Leaves a Large Number of Descendants and Friends

Death claimed Mrs. Ann Rees, a well known and honored resident of Plymouth
county for fifty years, at her home in Seney Saturday morning at the age of
87 years. Mrs. Rees passed peacefully away with hardly a struggle and with
no premonition that the end of life was near. She had enjoyed excellent
health all her life.

Mrs. Rees was born in Montgomeryshire, North Wales, September 15, 1844, and
lived at that place until 1881 when she came with her husband to America.
She was united in marriage with Thomas (error--Edward) Rees in 1860.

They came to Plymouth county soon after migrating to the states and located
on a farm five miles northeast of Le Mars. She lived on the farm until
twenty-three years ago when she went to Seney to make her home.

The last year she made her home with her son, Fred Rees. Her husband
preceded her in death six years ago.

She leaves to mourn her death her daughter, Mrs. Thos. Bowen, of Tacoma,
Wash., and four sons, E. J. Rees of Le Mars, Thomas, William and Fred Rees,
of Seney. There are nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral This Afternoon

In early life Mrs. Rees joined the Baptist church and was a life long member
of that denomination. She was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and
friend and was esteemed by all who knew her during her long and useful life,
filled with devotion towards others and worthy of example.

The funeral will be held this afternoon from the home of Fred Rees at Seney
at 2 o'clock where a short service will be held and services will be held in
the First Baptist church in this city with the pastor, Rev. T. P. Potter and
Rev. W. C. Bergman, of Seney, officiating. Interment will be made in the Le
Mars city cemetery.

The pallbearers will be William Rees, Robert Rees, Marshall Rees, Orville
(sic-Orval) Rees, Kenneth Rees and Harold Rees.

LE MARS FRIENDS PRESENT
Wedding of Lyle Graham and Lucille Vander Haar Celebrated Saturday

The marriage of Miss Lucille Vander Haar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Vander Haar, 1517 West First Street, to Lyle W. Graham, of Sioux City, was
solemnized Saturday afternoon in Whitfield Methodist church in Sioux City by
Rev. James J. Davies. The bridal processional was played by Mrs. Lucy
Dimmit Kolp.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Graham and family, of Webb, Iowa;
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Vander Haar, of Luverne, Minn.; Mrs. Emma Dobbert, of
LeMars; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dobbert, of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. H. Vander Haar
and Mr. and Mrs. C. Blankers, all of Sheldon; and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Vander
Haar, of Boyden.

REPORTS THEFT OF CAR

Dr. R. J. Joynt, residing at 320 Third Avenue, SE, reported the theft of a
car from his place Saturday night to the police. The car, a Hudson sedan,
was parked in front of his residence.

IRETON WOMAN TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. J. P. Riter Was Wife of Well Known Sioux County Man

A special from Craig says: Mrs. J. P. Riter, of Ireton, died Sunday evening
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Shawhan, in Akron. Mrs. Riter had
been in failing health all summer. Last week she was taken to Akron for
treatment. Infection of the lining of the heart was the cause of her death.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, J. P. Riter; two sons, Oren,
of Hawarden, and Lester, of Ireton; three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Shawhan, of
Akron; Mrs. Vernon Morey, of Craig; and Inez, who teaches school at Sioux
Rapids; her aged father, L. Oloff, of Ireton; three grandchildren; two
brothers, Fred and L. C. Oloff and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Kallsen, all of
this vicinity, besides many other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Ireton,
and interment made in the cemetery at that place.
