Mrs. Antje Meyer, an old and well known resident of Grant township, died at a hospital in Cherokee on Tuesday night. Mrs. Meyer had suffered from cerebral trouble for a long time and was taken to the hospital last June. Her maiden name was Antje Westhoff, and she was born in Strockholdt, Ost Friesland, Germany, 74 years ago.
When a young woman she came to America and shortly after her arrival came to LeMars and lived in Grant township the rest of her life. She was twice married, her first husband being Wm. Ludwigs. Subsequent to his death, she was united in marriage with Habbe Meyer, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Meyer is survived by her brother, J. G. Westhoff, who lives in LeMars. Mrs. Meyer was well known in Grant township, especially among the older residents, and was active in community work, and in attending to home affairs until overtaken by illness.
The funeral Services will be held this afternoon at Christ church, Grant township, Rev. J. D. Meyer, the pastor officiating, and the interment will be made in the cemetery at that place.

SENEY RESIDENT TAKEN BY DEATH
J. H. WALKUP LIVED IN PLYMOUTH COUNTY FOR PAST THIRTY YEARS
J. H. Walkup, a well known resident of Seney, died last Friday evening at a
hospital in Sioux City where he had gone two weeks previous for an operation
which could not be performed because of his condition. Mr. Walkup had
suffered for some time with tuberculosis of the kidneys which was the cause
of his death.
Mr. Walkup was born about sixty years ago in West Virginia and when a small
child moved with his parents to Marshall county where he grew to manhood and
was married. About thirty years ago, he moved to Plymouth county and farmed
until three or four years ago when he moved into the town of Seney. Mrs.
Walkup survives him and his is also survived by three grandchildren, the
children of an adopted daughter, Mrs. Hazel Anstine, who died about a year
ago.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Seney M.E. church, of
which he was a member, and were conducted by his long time friend, Rev. A.
Z. McGogney.
Mr. Walkup was highly esteemed as a neighbor and citizen in the community in
which he lived.
WEDDINGS AT REMSEN
Remsen Bell-Enterprise: The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Kirpes, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kirpes, and Nicholas Penning, son of Mr. and Mrs. George
Penning, of Granville, was solemnized in St. Mary's Catholic church here
Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock. Rev. James Greteman read the nuptial mass, and
many friends and relatives of the young couple were present.
The attendants were Miss Rose Krell, of Wilmont, Minn., a cousin of the
bride, and Vincent Penning, of Granville, a brother of the groom.
The bride appeared in an elegant gown of white brocaded flat crepe with
pearl trimming, and wore a veil. She carried a shower bouquet of white
lilies, roses, carnations, and lilies of the valley. Her maid of honor wore
a gown of blue Canton crepe and carried white carnations.
Immediately after the ceremony the bridal party repaired to the home of the
bride's parents northeast of town, where friends and relatives were
entertained during the day. A splendid wedding dinner was served at noon.
The reception and dining halls were tastily decorated in the bride's colors,
blue and white, which also formed pretty decorations at the table.
Mr. and Mrs. Penning departed yesterday morning on a honeymoon trip to
Dubuque and other eastern Iowa points. They are expected to return in about
two weeks, after which they will move to a farm near Dell Rapids, S.D.,
owned by the groom's father.

The marriage of Miss Rose Hunt, of Granville, and Emil Loutsch, of Remsen,
was solemnized at St. Mary's church Wednesday morning, January 23, when at 8
o'clock Rev. Father A. A. Bausch officiated at the ceremony that united the
esteemable couple.
There was a large number of friends and relatives present for the happy
ceremony.
The couple were attended by Miss Josephine Hunt, a sister of the bride, and
Andrew Loutsch, a brother of the groom. The bride appeared in a dainty suit
of poiret twill, and wore a gray hat and other accessories to match. She
wore a corsage bouquet of sweet peas. The maid of honor also wore a poiret
twill suit, with gray hat and accessories of corresponding shade.
Following the ceremony the bridal party went to the John Ritz home where the
reception was held. Mrs. Ritz is a sister of the groom. A wedding
breakfast was served upon their arrival, and many friends called to pay
their respects.
In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Loutsch departed for on a honeymoon trip to
eastern Iowa, and will visit relatives at various places. They plan to
return to Remsen in about three weeks.
Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Loutsch will be at home on a farm east of
Granville, owned by the bride and her sisters and brothers.
