DIED.
Asa Harkness, sr., a resident of this vicinity for about thirty years, died
at his home in Akron at about 7:30 o’clock this (Thursday) morning,
following an attack of pneumonia, aged 83 years. His wife and a large
family of children survive, to whom the community offers its condolence.
The obituary will appear in next week’s paper.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 o’clock in the Baptist church.

Relatives here from a distance during his last illness were: David
Harkness, a brother from Sutherland, Ia.; Mrs. W. E. Brady, of Platte, S.D.,
and Mr. and Mrs. Robt. French, of Elk Point. A son, Joe Harkness, arrived
today from Oklahoma.

DIED.
Mrs. Frank Horton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Mudgett, of this city, died
Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital following an operation for appendicitis.
Deceased was 17 years of age and lived on a farm about six miles northwest
of Sioux City. She had been married only three months. The relatives have
the sympathy of all who know them in this sad bereavement. The remains will
be brought here for interment tomorrow (Friday.)

Mr. and Mrs. Mudgett were with their daughter at the time of the operation.

DIED.
Mrs. Nels Nelson Stave died Sunday, February 25, 1912, at the family home
north of Spink, S.D., of pneumonia, aged 55 years. The family has lived in
that locality many years and deceased was highly respected. Many friends
extend their sympathy to those bereaved. The funeral was held Wednesday at
Rosena Church.

RUBLE HAPPENINGS: (Special Correspondence)

Wm. Jeffers, jr., of Seney, visited the past week at the home of his
grandmother, Mrs. Jeffers.

Gust. Jans and family enjoyed a visit from his brother, Frank, and family,
of Luverne, Minn.

At the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tapper, the wedding of
Miss Etta Tapper and Mr. Fred Klemme was solemnized February 22, 1912, Rev.
T. H. Meyer, of the Preston township German Lutheran Church, officiating, in
the presence of near relatives. The congratulations and best wishes of all
their friends is extended. They will make their home on his father’s farm
in Preston township.

Jeffers Bros. shipped a carload of fat cattle to Sioux City Tuesday, Orsen
accompanying the shipment.

Henry Nannen and Miss Lizzie Frericks were quietly married at the home of
the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Frericks, on February 21, 1912, Rev.
Meyer officiating. They have the best wishes of their many friends.

The sale of Gust. Jans on the Christ. Klemme farm was attended by a large
crowd. J. W. Frerick will farm there this coming year.

Gust. Jans and family are visiting around Merrill at present.

While visiting at the John Ruble home last Thursday evening, Paul Gill, of
Crathorne, had the misfortune to have one of his horses die, the result of
feeding wheat straw.

Mesdames Marbach and Jas. Ruble attended the Ladies Aid at Mrs. Jas. Kirk’s.
