OWNER OF MACHINE STUNG TWICE
The Bank of Brunsville vs. Henry Meins et al. was the outcome of an automobile deal made by the defendant, Henry Meins, who left the country between two days. Meins bought an automobile from W. A. Janicke and gave the latter a check on the Bank of Chatsworth. Janicke went to the bank with Meins and the cashier on the representation of Meins that he had money in the bank at Chatsworth and on Janicke’s endorsement cashed the check. A verdict was returned in favor of the bank for $342.93. The automobile was attached and sold a few weeks ago and the original owner of the machine is out both his automobile and cash.

After the snow the perfect weather of Christmas Day seemed all the more
delightful and the day was certainly enjoyed to the fullest, skating and
sleighing being popular amusement among the younger social circles, while
delightful dinner parties took place every hour during the afternoon and
early evening. Indeed these were so numerous as to preclude the possibility
of mentioning them all.
Mr. and Mrs. David Goudie were the hosts of the family dinner at their
country home and covers were laid for twenty at their table, the guests
being Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Goudie and Miss Margaret Goudie, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Hoyt and Miss Agnes Hoyt, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Hoyt, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoyt
and family, and Mr. and Mrs. James Goudie. The table decorations were novel
and effective and the delectable menu was most tempting and much amusement
was derived from the place favors each of which contained an appropriate
keepsake. Cards and social visiting engrossed the guests after dinner and
the occasion was delightful in every detail.
The Hentges reunion is always an event of interest to the members of the
family and the gathering was held as usual at the home of Mrs. John Hentges,
when Miss Cecelia Hentges, Messrs. John and Ed Hentges of Chicago, Miss
Clementine Hentges who is attending Trinity College in Washington, D. C.,

served at seven o’clock was the special feature of the day. The dining room
with its shaded lights of red was most attractive in its holiday
decorations, where the colors were carried out in the green and red in the
table appointments and floral decorations. An evening of music and social
visiting followed the dinner hour.
Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Bedell and son, Rowland, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Flaugher,
and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wernli were one o’clock dinner guests of Mr. and
Mrs. E. Thomarson at the Union. A social afternoon followed at the home of
the host and hostess, where at seven o’clock the company enjoyed a Christmas
supper. Santa Claus name cards directed the guests to their places at the
long table, where the floral decorations were in pink and green and
completed in the table appointments and individual wax tapers blending with
the soft glow reflected from the shaded chandelier.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Dalton had a pleasant family dinner party, the circle
being complete with the families of Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Dalton and Mr. and

visiting.
At the home of Miss Lorna Palmer on Saturday the members of the B.U.G. club
participated in a delightful Christmas party. A profusion of holly and
mistletoe decorated the hospitable home, where the social events of the
meeting took place, notably the Christmas tree and the exchange of gifts
among the club members. Later a bob ride furnished diversion until the
supper hour, when the club members returned to the home of their hostess,
where they enjoyed the repast which had been prepared for them. After supper
