October 4, 1904 LeMars Daily Sentinel:

"A telegram was received in LeMars yesterday announcing the death of Michael Keough, an aged and pioneer resident, living north of LeMars. Mr. Keough went to Holyoke, Mass., a few days ago to the bedside of a sick sister, who died and since her demise was visiting a brother. The cause of his death is not stated in the dispatch. The remains were shipped from Holyoke yesterday and funeral arrangements will be made later. Mr. Keough was over eighty years of age and was widely known."

DEATH OF MRS. CHRISTIANSEN     

Mrs. Christiansen, wife of Rev. J.F. Christiansen of the Lutheran church
in Johnson township died on Monday after a long illness of kidney
trouble.  The funeral was held on Wednesday at the Johnson township
church and was very largely attended by sorrowing friends and neighbors.
Rev. J. Vollmar, of this city, conducted the funeral services.  Deceased
was bout forty years of age and had lived in this county for the past
seven years.  Rev. Christiansen was formerly pastor of the Lutheran
church in this city.  Six children are left to mourn the loss of a
devoted mother.

MARRIED:

Miss Edith I. Burrill and Mr. Henry N. Kern, both of this city, were
united in marriage on Thursday morning at the United Evangelical church,
Rev. Emil Mueller, presiding elder of the United Evangelical church
performing the ceremony.

The young people are both well known in LeMars and have both been
employed by the Iowa Telephone company for some years.  Their many
friends will extend them hearty congratulations.

They will make their home in the old McGrew house on Eagle street.

DEATH OF J.C. McNAMARA

James C. McNamara died very suddenly at his home on 5th St. on Tuesday night, after a brief illness of acute pneumonia. Mr. McNamara was suffering from a cold, which developed into pneumonia. The news of his death was a shock to his friends as few, if any, of them were aware he was ill. His wife is prostrated by the shock of the sudden bereavement.

The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o’clock at St. James. Rev. Father O’Farrell officiating.

James C. McNamara was born at Newark, Ohio, forty nine years ago. He was married to Miss Annie Gainor in Le Mars about eighteen years ago and this has been his home for more than 20 years. He leaves four children, three boys and a girl. He also leaves 3 brothers and 2 sisters. They are John H. and D. J. McNamara, of Des Moines; Patrick L. McNamara of Ida Grove; Mrs. J. O. Mullaney, of Fargo, N.D. and Mrs. Frank Butler, of Storm Lake. The brothers and sisters came to attend the funeral and J. O. Mullaney and Frank Butler accompanied their wives.

Mr. McNamara was a kind husband and father and a good citizen and his untimely death is regretted by a large circle of friends among whom he has lived for the past two decades.

Miller-Trafford Wedding

Miss Edythe May Trafford, of this city, and Albert T. Miller, of St. Paul, Minn., were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Trafford, on Hubbard street on Wednesday evening, in the presence of about twenty five relatives and intimate friends. This ceremony took place at eight o’clock and was performed by Rev. J. L. Blanchard, pastor of the Congregational church. A fine wedding supper was served and a good social time followed. The young people received a number of beautiful wedding presents. They will leave on Sunday to make their home in St. Paul.

The bride has lived nearly all her life in LeMars and is a favorite among a large circle of friends. Mr. Miller is a young business man of St. Paul and is department manager for the firm of Guitermann Bros. in that city.

SENEY: (Special Correspondence)

James Alderson arrived here the latter part of last week from Wisconsin
where he has been visiting for a short time, and left on Monday evening for
his home in Elgin, Neb.

Mr. and Mrs. Darnell and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lancaster and son John went to
Westfield last Monday where they will visit relatives.

Miss Edith Councilman left here for Sheldon the middle of last week after
visiting at the parental home for a few weeks.

Mark Aukema is here from Idaho and is contemplating a trip to Holland in the
near future with his brother, Simeon.

The Women’s Foreign and Home Missionary society had a very successful as
well as a very interesting meeting at the home of Mrs. Simeon Aukema on
Wednesday of last week. More missionary workers should come out to these
meetings.

Mat Ewin has purchased the old Freeman house and has moved it onto a lot in
the north part of town where he will move his family soon.

Miss Diamond, of LeMars, attended evening service at this place last Sunday
evening.

Miss Ona Anstine was the victim of a surprise party given by about thirty of
her friends on last Friday evening. The evening was pleasantly spent in
games, music and conversation. Nice refreshments were served at a suitable
hour.
