KILLED BY LIGHTNING
On a farm fifteen miles west of LeMars four orphans, by the name of Maloney,
have been living. During last Saturday afternoon's storm while three of them
were driving in some cattle they were struck by lightning, and two of them,
John and Mary, were killed. The third recovered. The funeral occurred in
LeMars Sunday, they being buried in the Catholic cemetery.
Mrs. John Kelly living in the same locality is a sister of the Maloney
children.
It is reported that four persons were killed at Alton during the same
afternoon by lightning, but no confirmation of this has been received here
yet.
