IN MEMORY OF FRANK PERON.
Frank, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Peron, died at his home in Lincoln township
March 17th, 1881, of diphtheria, aged 10 years. In the stilly midnight hour
the pure unsullied spirit of our darling broke from its earthly tenement and
winged its flight to the realms of rest, a shade of sadness settled over our
neighborhood as the words were whispered from one to another that Frankie
was no more. Frankie’s death has left a void in our hearts. We miss his
gentle voice and loving presence in our schoolroom. We miss his
pleasantries in our hours of leisure, and O! How deeply his loss is felt at
home. Obedient, affectionate and self sacrificing he was the household idol,
the pet of his sisters, and the pride of his parents.

He was loved by all who knew him,
And now he has gone to rest;
But we know that he is happy,
In the company of the blest.

Dear little playmate oft we’ll miss you
As our voices blend at play,
In the schoolroom where we study,
And to which we go each day.

Thy little place is vacant,
The hearts at home are sad,
An angel’s voice and harp are thine
Then why should we be sad.

We know that thou art happy,
Where thy spirit now doth dwell,
Till we meet thee up in Heaven
We will bid a sad farewell.
