Items of General Interest Taken from Our Exchanges of
the Past Week.
Hiram Hanson of Linn Grove was fined $10 and costs this week on
charges of overloading a boat.
A proposal to issue $25,00 in bonds to buy a fire truck for three
townships in Clay county was defeated by a vote of 96 to 17,
Monday.
G. A. Walquist of Linn Grove was fined $300 and costs at
Emmetsburg last Friday for driving an automobile while
intoxicated.
The main street of Renwick will be blacktopped this spring by the
state highway commission, and will also maintain the street after
it is improved.
Rev. J. A. Underberg, a former Emmetsburg Catholic assistant
pastor, who in recent years was pastor at Cherokee, and Ralph
Downing of Cherokee, were drowned Wednesday when their boat
burned on Leach Lake, near Walker, Minnesota.
Arthur Crouch, 70, Emmetsburg grocer, died at his home last
Thursday night, following several months of illness. Mr. Crouch
was never married, and had no immediate survivors in Emmetsburg.
