MEMORIAL PROGRAM IN EMMETSBURG
A Large Attendance, Fine Adress, Exercises Were Impressive

Memorial day was generally and fittingly observed in Emmetsburg. The weather
was pleasant and there were a large number in town at an early hour. The
G.A.R., the Spanish American veterans and the American Legion formed at an
early hour and held appropriate exercises at Medium Lake for the sailor
dead. A short program was next given at the memorial tree at Harrison Park,
after which the paraders marched to the cemeteries, headed by the American
Legion band. The members of the W.R.C. and the Service Star Legion rode in
cars. There were many beautiful banners and flags in the line of march. The
graves of the following named soldiers of the several wars in which our
country was engaged were decorated in St. John's and Evergreen cemeteries:
