C.O. Button was the victim of a holdup Tuesday night near the
creamery, while on his way to the midnight Omaha train north. A
gun was presented to him business end first, and he was commanded
to "stick 'em up," which he did. The thief gathered a
little over $2 missing a larger sum which Mr. Button had hidden.
A dance put on by the Civic Dept. of the Woman's Club will be
held in the armory Tuesday evening. Music will be furnished by
Mandy's singing orchestra.
Walter Kruse of Sheldon and Walter Hensch and John Stegeman of
Boyden left Monday for Minneapolis to attend the state fair.
Dr. I.L. Church returned the first of the week from a vacation at
Salem, Oregon and other coast points. He also did some ocean
fishing with considerable success, getting codfish on the line,
the fish weighing from 35 to 40 pounds.

The following were elected officers to the American Legion Drum
Corps: President, Fred Kelly; secretary and treasurer, K.L.
Woods; business manager, Dr. F.W. Nelson; Drum Sergeant, A.H.
Paulson; Bugle Sergeant, George Wilcox.
George Hudson has resigned his position at the Sheldon hardware
Company and will donate his time to the radio business.
New cars sold: C.B. Gills, Sheldon, Ford touring; Ben Engles,
Sheldon, Studebaker Brokham; Geo. Tolman, Sheldon, Star sedan;
A.C. Christianson, Sheldon, Oakland coach.
A number of young ladies enjoyed a picnic and wiener roast at the
Hills on Monday evening. Those in attendance were Betty Woods,
Maxine Curtis, Mary Frisbie, Ethel Washer, Margaret Sarset and
Janice Vander Meide.
